HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR DIVORCE AND CHILD CUSTODY LITIGATION
Divorce and Child Custody litigation takes a toll unlike most other forms of litigation. If you feel overwhelmed, you may want to think about talking with a counselor. If you would like more information about counseling, please let me know and I will provide you with several suggestions for an appropriate counselor for your particular situation. Your child(ren) may also benefit from counseling during this time, as the process takes a tremendous toll upon them too. Whether you can take your child(ren) to counseling depends upon your present Child Custody order. Contact me if you would like more information.

Here are a few more things to think about during this process (a list of Do's and Don't's so to speak):
- Anything you say or write can end up in Court and be read by the Judge in your case. You may have heard of the legal term "Hearsay"? Well, hearsay doesn't apply to what you say!
- It is normal to feel anger, sadness and grief during a Divorce or Paternity case; however, it is never appropriate to say negative and derogatory things about the other parent in front of the child(ren).
- Change your passwords for social media and e-mail, etc. and be aware of syncing to devices.
- Be aware that your phone can be tracked.
- Don't write letters directly to the Judge.
- Don't try to talk to the attorney for the opposing party if you are already represented by an attorney.
- Don't confide in the children, as if you were confiding to a friend. It will cause them more stress than you may realize.
